Drawing upon a significant lineage in the form of the reference 222 and earlier iterations of the Overseas, this Vacheron Constantin Overseas 4500V is the third generation in this series, with a distinct design language of its own that feels decisively modern. An excellent choice for those seeking a versatile piece, the 4500V is a sleek, fresh addition to any collection.
The 4500V retains key design features that make it recognisably part of the same family, including the notched profile of the bezel, a homage to the shape of a Maltese Cross, the emblematic symbol of Vacheron Constantin. Similarly, the bracelet is composed of interlinked crosses paying homage to design in a subtler way.
There are also certain areas where the design of the piece departs from its predecessors, such as with the enhanced tonneau shape of the case. Further to this, the deep blue dial possesses a black metal base with a translucent, blue-lacquer finish layered on top that distinguishes the piece and gives it a sunburst-like appearance when light falls on the dial. Both these aspects combine to introduce a contemporary perspective to the watch without compromise, in addition to some of the more practical additions, such as a quick-release bracelet and an extension system that allows the wearer some breathing room.
The piece is also powered by the calibre 5100, created in-house. This updated movement also bears the coveted Geneva Seal, a marker of excellence in watchmaking, unique in its accreditation as it doesn’t give much credence to measuring time accurately. Rather, it focuses on the art of decorating a movement with finesse and skill, in the long tradition of Genevan watchmaking, which Vacheron Constantin prides itself on carrying forwards today.
