The Design

This reference 47052 displays a triple calendar, or complete calendar, complication. It displays the day, date and month, though it does not take into account the variable lengths of the various months, and therefore needs to be corrected five times a year. Vacheron Constantin has a long and storied history of triple calendar pieces, many of which follow this classic layout.

Rather interestingly, the moonphase is made from lapis lazuli, a deep blue metamorphic rock, which adds another rich spark of colour to the otherwise pared-back colour palette. The piece has a solid caseback, upon which is engraved “Vacheron – Constantin” in cursive, with “Geneva” in a similar font directly in the centre.
