The white gold, round case with integrated lugs has an impressive 48 mm diameter. It further features a hexagonal bezel, giving it a strong presence on the wrist. The result isn't overdone, thanks to the almost utilitarian simplicity of the titanium dial. The index markers, placed alternatively on the bezel and the dial, do not overcrowd or weigh down on the look of the watch. The skeletonised blue hands and power reserve display, as well as the minutely delicate microlight decoration give the face a sense of airiness, thus more than compensating for the imposing size and material.
The exquisite movement is revealed through the sapphire display-back, showing clearly what De Bethune are capable of. This modern, inventive Swiss independent watchmaker has been creating their own calibres since 2002, giving attention to every detail. The DB22 is powered by the DB2024-386 49-jewel automatic movement, beating at a rate of 28,800 A/h. It consists of 274 components and features an impressive 6 day power reserve when fully wound. This movement not only has the highest finish with hand-decorated steel parts but is also technologically impressive, featuring a self-regulating twin barrel and a triple parachute shock-absorbing system.
