Sell Your Voutilainen Watch

Kari Voutilainen stands out amongst the independents. He has built an entire manufacture from scratch after refining his craft at the restoration house of Michel Parmigiani. We are proud to be the only endorsed seller of his pre-owned watches.

Based in his hill-top workshop in Môtiers, he is well-known for the quality of his finishing, impressive mechanics and eye-catching guilloché dials, which are coveted by several other note-worthy brands around the industry. Having handled many of his pieces over the years, it becomes clear that his watches possess a unique quality hard to find anywhere else.

“Money is not driving me to work, I am only concerned with quality,”

SELL YOUR WATCH WITH US

Over the course of the last ten years, we have spent time studying the brand, visiting the workshop in Môtiers, and speaking with Kari Voutilainen to better appreciate the watchmaker’s ethos and the legacy he hopes to leave behind.

It is this knowledge that has helped us become a valuable source for those seeking information as well as rare examples of his exclusive pre-owned pieces.

A Collected Man has forged a close partnership with the watchmaker, having sold more than 40 pieces to date. We remain the only endorsed pre-owned seller of the brand’s watches.

Previous Voutilainen Sales

Voutilainen

Observatoire | Unique Piece | Rose Gold

This Observatoire, made in 2006, pre-dates many of the recognisable aesthetic codes that Voutilainen has developed. The finishing still meets the same high standards the watchmaker has set for himself. This unique piece’s unadorned white dial and straight lugs represents a rare find even from this rarely seen brand.

Voutilainen

Masterpiece Chronograph II | Stainless Steel

Commissioned by a group of American collectors, only 10 pieces of the Masterpiece Chronograph II were ever produced. This particular example is the only one from the set that was made in stainless-steel.

Voutilainen

Monopoussoir | White Gold

This Monopoussoir from 2010, made in a series of just five pieces, showcases Voutailainen’s masterful restoration and decoration of a vintage Valjoux calibre.

Voutilainen

Vingt-8 | Besançon Observatory Certified | Platinum

Specially commissioned by a collector, this Vingt-8 is one of the only examples certified by the Besançon Observatory – a characteristic usually found on the earliest Observatoire watches. Voutilainen's attention to detail and craftsmanship is present in every aspect of the watch, and the dial is especially unusual, as it is particularly minimalistic, devoid of any guilloché patterns.

A notable sale

This TBR-1 Prototype, sold at A Collected Man, is a unique piece that demonstrates the full reach and skill of Kari Voutilainen's work as an independent watchmaker. Nearly 10 years in the making, the piece bears many of Voutilainen's aesthetic hallmarks, but the movement truly shines through here. It is equipped with a one-minute tourbillon and a constant force mechanism incorporated into the going train, that gives the watch its jumping-minute function, and is certified a chronometre by the Besançon Observatory.

The TBR-1 is the most expensive Kari Voutilainen watch sold publicly.

Sold on 21st Oct 2023.
