The dial has a rich, textured, dark blue hue, and features white gold Arabic numerals, filled with Superluminova. A clear nod to the utilitarian needs of aviator watches, with legibility being a key issue, especially in darkness. Steel blue hands were often used for the same reason, to give the hands marked contrast against the dial. The 5524 uses this for the local time, also filled with Superluminova, while the home time is shown with a white skeleton hand. The date, adjustable by hand, is placed at 6 o'clock, and takes the form of a sub-register (with a white gold hand) while day/night indicators are featured through apertures for both the local and home time zones.
The case has a diameter of 42 mm, giving it a large, yet comfortable, presence on the wrist. The pushers on the left have a safety-lock, to prevent accidental adjustment of the time. It also features a sapphire case-back, revealing the high finishing of the movement.
The movement, with a total of 294 parts, has a power reserve of a maximum 45 hours with 29 working jewels. The Calibre 324 S C FUS movement is automatically-wound by the visible, full-sized gold rotor weight. The movement features the very latest advancements in haute-horology, including the Spiromax spring and Gyromax balance made of Silinvar, as well as the iconic Patek seal, meaning the watch's regulation to -3/+2 seconds per day.
The watch comes with a Patek Philippe vintage brown calf leather strap, as well as its original strap, on a white gold tang buckle. The is a full set, complete with the Certificate of Origin, dated April 2016, the box with accessories, pusher, swing tickets and all instruction booklets.
